Overview

The SCH3223-7U is a 3.3V Super I/O Controller with an LPCinterface. It includes Hardware Monitoring capabilities, enhanced SecurityFeatures, Power Control Logic and Motherboard Glue Logic.  Multiple lowpower-down modes are supported and sophisticated power control circuitry (PCC)are incorporated, which includes support for keyboard.Super I/O functionality includes two serialports.  The serial ports are fully functional NS16550 compatible UARTsthat support data rates up to 1.5 Mbps.Hardware Monitoring (HWM) support for monitoringan external temperature via thermal diode inputs and an internal sensor formeasuring local ambient temperature.  HWM also includes programmable,automatic fan control, consisting of a fan tachometer input and a pulse widthmodulator (PWM) fan control output, responding to temperature inputs andprogrammable via the LPC bus.  It can alert the system to out-of-limitconditions and automatically control the speed of a fan in response. System related functionality, which offersflexibility to the system designer, includes 19 General Purpose I/O (GPIO)control functions. The product is available in commercial (0°C to+70°C and industrial (-40°C to +85°C) temperature ranges.
