Overview

ON Semiconductor NCP81243 Dual Output Controller offers an optimized multi-phase buck solution for Intel IMVP8 compatible CPUs. NCP81243's control system is based on dual-edge pulse-width modulation (PWM) and DCR current sensing. This design delivers an ultra-fast initial response to dynamic load events. In light load conditions, the NCP81243 can auto-frequency scale while still delivering excellent transient performance. By integrating differential-inductor DCR current sensing, true-differential voltage sensing, input voltage feed-forward, and adaptive-voltage positioning, the NCP81243 controller accurately regulates power for both desktop and notebook applications. The NCP81243 controller includes five PWM drive signals. Designers can configure the PWM drive signals into multiple setups. Dual high-performance operational error amplifiers simplify loop compensation. Patented Dynamic Reference Injection ensures designers do not need to compromise between closed-loop transient response and Dynamic VID performance. In addition, NCP81243's Patented Total Current Summing delivers highly accurate droop and digital current monitoring.
