Overview
This chapter describes the electrical and switching characteristics for Cyclone IV devices. Electrical characteristics include operating conditions and power consumption. Switching characteristics include transceiver specifications, core, and periphery performance. This chapter also describes I/O timing, including programmable I/O element (IOE) delay and programmable output buffer delay. DC Characteristics This section lists the I/O leakage current, pin capacitance, on-chip termination (OCT) tolerance, and bus hold specifications for Cyclone IV devices. Supply Current The device supply current requirement is the minimum current drawn from the power supply pins that can be used as a reference for power size planning. Use the Excel-based early power estimator (EPE) to get the supply current estimates for your design because these currents vary greatly with the resources used.

Cyclone® IV E SeriesLogic elements: The device features 15,408 logic elements (LEs), which are the basic building blocks of the FPGA. These elements can be programmed to perform a variety of logic functions.
Memory: The EP4CE15F17C8N includes 504 Kbits of on-chip memory, which can be used for storing data or for implementing memory-based functions.
Digital signal processing (DSP) blocks: The device includes 48 DSP blocks, which can be used for implementing complex mathematical functions such as filters and transforms.
I/O pins: The FPGA features 270 I/O pins, which can be used to interface with other electronic components or systems.
Clock management: The EP4CE15F17C8N includes a variety of clock management resources, including phase-locked loops (PLLs) and delay-locked loops (DLLs), which can be used to generate and distribute clock signals throughout the FPGA.
Power consumption: The device has a low power consumption, making it suitable for battery-powered or portable applications.
Package: The EP4CE15F17C8N is housed in a 256-pin plastic ball grid array (PBGA) package, which provides good thermal performance and high pin count.
