Overview

The MASW-002103-13630G is a SPDT, surmount,broadband, monolithic switch using two sets ofseries and shunt connected PIN diodes. This deviceis designed for use in broadband, low to moderatesignal, high performance, switch applications up to20 GHz. It is a surface mountable switch configuredfor optimized performance and offers a distinctadvantage over MMIC, beamlead and chip and wirehybrid designs. Because the PIN diodes of theMASW-002103-13630G are integrated into the chipand kept within close proximity, the parasiticstypically associated with other designs that useindividual components are kept to a minimum.To minimize the parasitics and achieve highperformance the MASW-002103-13630G is fabricatedusing MACOM's patented HMIC™ (Heterolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) process. This process allows the silicon pedestals,which form the series and shunt diodes or vias, to beimbeded in low loss, low dispersion glass. Thecombination of low loss glass and using tightspacing between elements results in an HMICdevice with low loss and high isolation through lowmillimeter wave frequencies.The topside is fully encapsulated with silicon nitrideand also has an additional layer of polymer forscratch and impact protection. The protectivecoating guards against damage to the junction andthe anode airbridges during handling and assembly.On the backside of the chip gold metalized padshave been added to produce a solderable surmountdevice.
